We are delighted to announce we have published our CHAMPS-in-Action Training Manual, now available for reading and download on the Toronto Metropolitan University Pressbook platform. This e-book is an invaluable tool for frontline workers, community advocates, and organizations aiming to fight HIV-related stigma, promote resilience, and spur community action towards social justice and equity.
The content of this manual draws from the groundbreaking work of Dr. Alan Li, Dr. Josephine Wong, Dr. Kenneth Fung, and Dr. Mateusz Zurowski. These experts initially developed the Community Champions HIV/AIDS Advocates Mobilization Project (CHAMP) in collaboration with the Community Alliance for Accessible Treatment (CAAT) between 2011 and 2015.
Since its inception, the CHAMP intervention has been adapted for various frontline programs such as the Acceptance and Commitment to Empowerment, as well as national intervention studies like the Strength In Unity Project to reduce mental illness stigma.
The CHAMPS-in-Action Training Manual is designed to facilitate the CHAMP intervention in real-world settings. It contains meticulously refined learning activities, guided by research evidence, participant feedback, and the collective insights from authors involved in the original CHAMP study.
